He extensively studied the lore of the [Rings of Power]?. He was enslaved to Sauron? when he looked into one of the Palantir?. He is first mentioned in The Fellowship of the Ring, although he is not actually seen until the latter half of [The Two Towers]?. At the end of [The Return of the King]? he is killed by his servant, [Grima Wormtongue]?.
