Lundy

Lundy Island is an island located in the [Bristol Channel]? off the coast of Great Britain.

It is about halfway between Wales and Cornwall.

Lundy Island is part of Great Britain and is about 3 miles by 1/2 mile in size. It is connected to the mainland by a ferry service; there is also a charter helicopter service from Barnstaple? in Devon.

Tourism and [postage stamp]?s are the main parts of its economy.

Its name is derived from the Norse 'lunde' which is the word for the puffin birds which nest on the island, although the numbers of these have decreased significantly in recent years as a consequence of depredations by rats. Also, some of the nesting sites formerly used by the puffins have become overgrown by rhododendra.
