A chemical element, in the periodic table. Lead is a metal. Lead has the symbol Pb (from Plumbum) and atomic number 82.

Extraction method?

Common uses include: [leaded glass]? (see [glass making]?), [lead piping]? (not much lead piping these days). It can be form into an alloy with many other metals making pewter?, solder, [dentistry filling]?. Also used as flashing on roofing to protect joins from rain. And to hold bits of glass together in a window.

Lead is a poisonous metal. While used by the Roman Empire for piping, it is also thought to be the cause for the dimentia? that affected many of the emperors.

lead the metal is different from lead as in dog.

The lead in pencils is actually carbon graphite
