It is probably worth pointing out that there is not really a country called Latveria, even though the format here is similar to many of the articles on real countries. Latveria is possibly a country from a well-known work of fiction or a computer game, or it might just be a joke by a Wikipedian. Anyone who knows should tell us. (Any of the above would not necessarily get this article removed from Wikipedia. But we have to be up front with the readers and tell them what they are really reading about.)
... It was a long time ago, and memory fades, but IIRC I think Latveria was a fictional central/eastern european country used mentioned in various of Marvel Comics publications.
I think Doctor Doom (in the [Fantastic Four]
? comic ) was actually the ruler of that country..
Ah.. just noticed history has a link. My memory is better than I thought. It is from the Fantastic Four. The page was preusmably added as a joke, but a page about non-existent countires might be fun: Utopia, Erewhon, Freedonia, Laputa etc. (there was actually an atlas of fictional places published a few years back..)
