Kenny Dalglish football player and manager, b. 4 March 1951, Glasgow, Scotland

Formerly an international football player, most noted for his playing career with Liverpool F.C. and also as a manager who is spectacularly dour in his outlook and does not come across well in television interviews. He has been relatively successful in the managerial role.

He was manager of Liverpool on the fateful night of the [Heysel Stadium disaster]? in 1985, and also at the time of the [Hillsborough disaster]? in the 1989 FA Cup semi-final against [Nottingham Forest F.C.]?. His dignity and bearing during these tragedies was exemplary.

Dalglish resigned as manager of Liverpool in 1991.

He has subsequently managed [Blackburn Rovers F.C.]?, and [Newcastle United F.C.]?.
