I really don't think the best way to provide information about a religious group, especially one very interested in proselytism (no offense intended, but they are), is to refer people to the spokesmen for that group. It doesn't begin to provide a NeutralPointOfView.
Totally agree, Josh. Moreover, the information below just doesn't constitute an encyclopedia article!

The section

The cornerstone of the religion is a translation of the Bible that was made in the early twentieth century, known as the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. They are known for their racially diverse, close-knit social community (enforced by a tradition of new converts reducing contact with non-JW friends). They are also known for insistent door-to-door proselytizing.

My question is: What was wrong with the previous version (#9)? --css

Nothing's wrong with it, if it's true, but it might just be an idle claim. I wouldn't know (I haven't known any Jehovah's witnesses since high school) --Robert Merkel, who wasn't responsible for the edit BTW.

The edit was done by some 24.147.65.xxx. It may very well be a proper edit (I don't know anything about JW), I was just wondering ... --css
I don't understand why it was removed. The New World Translation is the version of the Bible used by Jehovah's Witnesses, although I hesitate to call it a translation, as it is generally regarded by Greek and Hebrew scholars to be wildly inaccurate at best. -- STG

Well, then, the only part of the original bit that we're not sure of is the "reducing contact" bit - which checks out with their reputation, at least. Put it back in.--Robert Merkel
