Isaac Disraeli, or `D'Israeli' as he more commonly spelled it, was the author of `Curiosities of Literature', a collection of anecdotes about historical persons and events, unusual books and the habits of book-collectors. The book was very popular and sold widely in the 19th century, but is mostly forgotten now, and his reputation has been eclipsed by his famous son, Benjamin Disraeli
