Gordon Banks OBE (born in Sheffield, 1937) is one of the best soccer goalkeepers in history. He played a major role in the World Cup of 1966, and played in the final.

He played with the following clubs:

He was awarded the OBE in 1972, two years prior to losing the sight in one eye in a road traffic accident.

Banks is also credited with making the best save ever, during the 1970 World Cup in a game against Brazil when Pele? executed a downward header, which somehow Banks contrived to scoop away over the crossbar in the most extraordinary of fashions.
