Native to Africa, Camelopardalis giraffa is related to the deers and antelopes, but placed in a separate family, the camelopards, consisting only of the giraffe and its relative the okapi.
The giraffe is the tallest animal in the world, and can grow to twenty feet (6 meters) from the hoofs to the top of the head. Its neck is very long, and its forelegs are much longer than its hind legs.
