Eschatology literally means 'the study of last things'. It describes that part of
theology concerning the end of the world as predicted in prophecy
? and recorded in sacred texts. The term is principally used in discussions of
Christianity, where it originated; but the term can also be applied to other religions, especially the western monotheistic faiths.
