[Home]Emulsion

HomePage | Recent Changes | Preferences

An emulsion is a mixture of two immiscible? liquids that is relatively stable. Common examples include milk, and salad dressing.

An emulsion can be broken down (i.e. the liquids separated) by factors such as mechanical manipulation (such as in a [milk churn]?), chemical effects (such as adding vinegar to milk, and watching it curdle), and time.

An emulsion commonly refers to a water-based paint used for painting internal surfaces.
