Mathematician and philosopher
Douglas R. Hofstadter (
1945-) is probably best known for his 1980
Pulitzer Prize-winning book
Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid. He is currently (2001) a professor of cognitive science and computer science at the Univeristy of Indiana.
He is the son of [Robert Hofstadter]?.
His particular interests include themes of the mind, consciousness, self-reference and mathematical games.
