Sir David Brewster (1781-1868), Scottish physicist and natural philosopher.
Former principal of the University of St. Andrews and the University of Edinburgh. A researcher in optics, he discovered many phenomena related to crystal optics and polarisation. He is the inventor of the kaleidoscope.
