Aromatic Compounds contain a benzene ring.

The of being aromatic is bestowed upon any organic molecule whose atoms (usu. carbon) are sp2 hybridized and whose Pi electorns follow the "4n+2" Hueckel rule in number (for n=0,1,2...).
