Electrolyte? soluions are used to replace lost fluids and salts in acute cases. Bulking agents like methylcellulose, [guar gum]? or plant fibre (bran, sterculia, ispaghul etc) are used for diarrhoea in functional bowel disease and to control ileostomy output.
