1966 film in which Sir Thomas More, the 16th-century Chancellor of England, refuses to endorse or denounce the king's wish to divorce his infertile wife so that he can marry his mistress. In this case, the King is Henry VIII and his wife is Catherine of Aragon, the first of an eventual six. Paul Scofield stars as Sir Thomas More and Robert Shaw as Henry VIII. Directed by [Fred Zinnemann]?, who's also known for [High Noon]?, [From Here to Eternity]?, and Oklahoma!?. Based on the play by [Robert Bolt]?, the film won Academy Awards for actor, screenplay, cinematography, costume design, directing, and film.
